Peluncuran browser Firefox 4 belum seumur jagung alias baru sebulan lalu, namun Mozilla telah menghadirkan versi 5, rumornya akan muncul pada 29 Juni mendatang.
Sumber Conceivably Tech mengabarkan, Browser berlogo rubah api versi 5 tersebut, lebih mengutamakan pada fitur sosial media. Saat ini Firefox 5 tengah memasuki tahap pengembangan kedua.
Kabar lain melaporkan, generasi lanjutan Firefox 4 itu bakal memiliki perubahan tampilan. Dimana perubahan utama ada pada fungsi update bagi situs jejaring sosial seperti Twitter dan Facebook. Secara jelas pada halaman bar kolom URL, pengguna dapat melakukan update status langsung ke akun sosial media miliknya.
Perubahan lainnya, menu browser bisa dikustom, sehingga dapat merubah tab browser menjadi shortcut penjelajahan halaman web. Juga perubahan penting lain seperti pada manajemen akun, dimana pengguna bisas sign-in beberapa akun berbeda dalam sekali waktu. Seperti Google Chrome, Mozilla pun mampu menginteregasikan PDF viewer ke dalam Firefox 5.

Seperti yang dikutip dari Ubergizmo, Rabu (13/4/2011), diketahui kalau Firefox 5 akan dapat terintegrasi dengan media sosial, tampilan muka pengguna dan peningkatan tab. Versi betanya akan diluncurkan bulan depan, sementara untuk memasuki versi final membutuhkan waktu sekira lima pekan setelahnya.
Hal ini sedikit berbeda dari metode peluncuran Firefox yang sebelumnya, mengingat ketika pertama kali Firefox 4 diluncurkan ada lebih dari 75 juta pengguna yang mengunduhnya.
Pengguna berharap kalau Firefox 5 bakal lebih stabil dari yang sebelumnya, berikut dengan beberapa perkembangan dan tambahan.

Mozilla has released the first Aurora build of Firefox 5, Alpha 2 on April 12th. Firefox 5 is the first release being done under Mozilla’s new aggressive development plan. Here is how the plan works, there are 4 stages or development channels each approximately 6-weeks each with a total of 18-weeks from Nightly to Release:
Nightly (Weeks 1-6) – the freshest (and sometimes unstable) developmental builds new features will be introduced during this cycle. Since Firefox 5 has moved to Aurora, Firefox 6 is now in the Nightly cycle.
Aurora (Weeks 6-12) – all new features for this new version have been landed. This is more of a ‘developer preview’ and again may not be the most stable. If the new feature has not already been approved by this time, it will be added in the current nightly (in this case Firefox 6). Some features may be cut if they can not be made to work during this six week cycle (in which case they will be kept in the Aurora channel for Firefox 6). Firefox 5 is now currently in Aurora and there will be ‘nightly’ releases on the Aurora channel as well. If a feature is still not working correctly at this point it will be yanked for this release and placed on the Aurora of the next release. In this case should something like this happen with Firefox the feature will be slated for Firefox 6. The rule now is, if it is not ready, it is not going to be in this release (this happened way too much with Firefox 4 which was why it was so delayed).
Beta (Weeks 12-18)- during this cycle any problems, issues, etc that came up during the Aurora cycle will be fixed. During this time the Release Candidate builds will be released.
Release (Week 18) – The final release of the new Firefox version.
Here is an approximate time table of Firefox 5 as it moves through the channels (keep in mind Mozilla is running a shorter development cycle on Firefox 5 of about 13 weeks):

Mozilla Ingin Pengguna Firefox 4 Upgrade ke Firefox 5 Beta
Rencana peluncuran Firefox dari Mozilla sudah meleset dari jadwal. Mungkin karena itulah Mozilla segera merilis Firefox 5 Beta 1 dan menyediakannya untuk diunduh oleh para pengguna Firefox 4.
Rilis beta pertama dari Firefox 5 menambahkan dukungan untuk animasi CSS yang memungkinkan para pengembang menganimasi transisi di antara kondisi CSS. Jika mau tahu daftar animasi yang didukung Firefox 5, silakan kunjungi Mozilla developer page.
Firefox 5 beta juga menyajikan peningkatan bagi JavaScript, memori, dan kinerja networking. Fitur baru lainnya mencakup peningkatan dukungan untuk standar Web seperti HTML5, XHR, MathML dan SMIL, bersama sejumlah perbaikan bug yang umum hadir di sebarang rilis beta.
Versi desktop dari Firefox kali ini tidak hadir sendirian. Bersama dengan desktop beta, hadir pula versi beta dari Firefox 5 for mobile devices. Firefox 5 beta for mobile ditambahi kemampuan untuk Do Not Track header dan menawarkan peningkatan kecepatan, khususnya pada jaringan 3G.
